Górale Highlanders

During the Nazi occupation of the Polish Highlands, the Górale community was regarded by the Germans as part of "Greater Germanic Race”, referring to them as the Goralenvolk and not regarded as Poles. Some of the highlanders joined the Germans but most of them remained in the forest and created the Tatra Confederation resistance organization.
